Spaces Terms of Service

Last updated: October 15, 2026

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of Spaces, including the Spaces desktop application, websites, mobile applications, messaging features, communities (called "Spaces"), support services, and other products or services we make available (collectively, the "Services").

By creating an account, accessing the Services, or continuing to use the Services after these Terms are presented to you, you agree to these Terms and the policies incorporated into them. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Who can use Spaces

You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. You must meet any minimum age requirement that Spaces publishes for your region. If you are using Spaces for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

You may not use Spaces if applicable law prohibits you from doing so or if Spaces has previously terminated your access for serious or repeated violations.

2. Accounts and security

You are responsible for the activity that occurs through your account and for maintaining accurate account information. Keep your credentials, recovery methods, and verification codes confidential. Do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your account except where Spaces expressly permits it.

You must promptly report suspected compromise, unauthorized access, or security issues through the official support or security channels. Spaces may require additional verification before restoring an account.

3. The Spaces service

Spaces provides communication and community tools that may include text, media, files, direct messages, channels, roles, moderation, notifications, discovery, support, and integrations. Features may change, be limited, or be discontinued as the Services evolve.

We may impose reasonable technical limits to protect reliability, safety, privacy, and other users.

4. Spaces and community administration

A person or organization that creates or administers a Space is responsible for configuring its rules, permissions, moderation, age-appropriate access, and staff. Space administrators must use the Services lawfully and may not use permissions to circumvent Spaces security or another user's rights.

Spaces may receive labels such as Community, Partner, Official, Verified, Featured, Staff-owned, or Beta. These labels describe a Space's status and do not independently grant account permissions. Official and Partner status may be revoked when the eligibility requirements or applicable policies are no longer met.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of content you create and submit to Spaces, except for rights you do not own or that are separately licensed. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit that content.

You grant Spaces a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, and technically process your content as necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Services, comply with law, prevent abuse, and provide features you request. Spaces does not receive ownership of your content through this license.

You should not upload content you are not authorized to share. Spaces may remove or restrict content when required by law, these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or when necessary to protect users, the Services, or third parties.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use Spaces to:

Additional rules may apply to specific features, products, or partner programs. During closed beta, the restrictions below also apply to unauthorized third-party software and bots.

Beta restrictions on third-party software and bots

While Spaces remains in closed beta, you may not connect or operate an unofficial bot account, self-bot, automated client, third-party chat client, scraper, modified Spaces client, unauthorized plugin, or software that automates, intercepts, or alters interactions with Spaces without prior written authorization from Spaces. This includes automated messaging, member scraping, mass invitations, credential or session-token handling, and use of non-public APIs.

This restriction is temporary for the closed beta while safety and integration permissions are being developed. Official features and services expressly provided or approved by Spaces are allowed. Ordinary browsers, operating-system accessibility functions, and protective security software are not prohibited merely because they are made by a third party, provided they do not bypass Spaces security or automate unauthorized access.

Spaces may disable unauthorized integrations, remove bot accounts, restrict access, or apply appropriate enforcement under these Terms. We may introduce a reviewed developer and bot program later; its availability is not guaranteed.

Corners and public profile pages

Corners are optional public profile pages. When you publish a Corner, the content, images, music links, chosen appearance, and profile link may be shown to visitors, in Spaces discovery, and in link-preview cards shared outside Spaces. Unpublished drafts are not offered in public previews.

You must have the rights to display any artwork, photography, music artwork, text, or other media you add. Linking to a third-party music service does not grant Spaces or you a license to redistribute its recordings. Do not impersonate others, publish private information without permission, or use Corners for harassment, scams, malicious links, or content prohibited elsewhere in these Terms.

Members can report a Corner for moderation review. Authorized Founder and Staff moderators may examine reports, edit or remove violating profile content or media references, restrict visibility, or unpublish a Corner. Moderation actions are recorded for accountability, and appeals may be submitted through Spaces Support. These controls do not grant Staff ownership of members' original content. See the separate Corner Terms for publishing and public-link rules.

Forms and Events

Spaces may provide public forms, time-limited questionnaires, events, email invitations and RSVP tools, including guest responses without a Spaces account where enabled. Creators must collect only appropriate information, accurately describe their purpose and protect guest privacy. Responses and guest rosters are retained on the feature-specific schedule described in our Forms & Events Terms, which also describes expiry windows, report handling, invitation email responsibilities and moderation.

7. Safety and moderation

Spaces may use automated systems, human review, reports, and other signals to detect and respond to violations. Enforcement may include warnings, content removal, feature restrictions, Space restrictions, temporary suspension, permanent termination, or other measures appropriate to the situation.

Enforcement decisions may consider severity, intent, history, repetition, credible risk, attempts to evade enforcement, and cooperation with investigations. Spaces may act immediately when necessary to prevent imminent harm or protect the Services.

Our Community Guidelines and Safety & Enforcement policy provide additional detail.

8. Intellectual property

The Spaces name, logos, product design, software, trademarks, and other Spaces-owned materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except as expressly permitted, you may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, redistribute, sell, or create confusingly similar products or branding from Spaces-owned materials.

You may not represent a Space as Official, Partner, or Verified unless that status has actually been granted through Spaces' authorized systems.

9. Third-party services and links

The Services may connect to third-party products, websites, content, or integrations. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies. Spaces is not responsible for third-party services it does not control.

10. Communications

Spaces may send transactional, security, support, policy, and service communications to the contact information associated with your account. Marketing communications, where applicable, will provide legally required controls.

Official Spaces communications will use domains and sender identities published by Spaces. Treat unexpected requests for passwords, recovery codes, or payment credentials as suspicious.

11. Beta and experimental features

Beta features may be incomplete, unstable, or changed without notice. By participating in a beta, you acknowledge that some functionality may fail and that feedback may be used to improve the Services. Additional Beta Program Terms may apply.

12. Paid features

If Spaces offers paid subscriptions, purchases, digital goods, or other paid services, additional terms, pricing, taxes, renewal rules, refund policies, and payment-provider terms may apply. The applicable purchase flow will present the terms that govern the transaction.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Spaces at any time. Spaces may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, protect the Services, comply with law, respond to security incidents, or prevent serious harm.

Where appropriate, Spaces may provide notice and an opportunity to correct a violation. Some actions may be immediate when risk or severity requires it.

14. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an "as available" and "as is" basis. Spaces does not promise that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every possible threat, or available in every region or at every time. Nothing in these Terms removes rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Spaces and its officers, employees, affiliates, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the Services. Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and hold harmless Spaces from third-party claims arising from your unlawful use of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another party's rights. This section does not apply where prohibited by law.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Spaces evolves. We will provide notice of material changes through the Services, email, or another reasonable method when required. The updated Terms will identify their effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where legally permitted.

18. Governing law and disputes

If a dispute arises, contact Spaces through the Legal Center or Support first so we can attempt to resolve it informally. Applicable law and mandatory consumer protections continue to govern. These Terms do not impose arbitration, a class-action waiver, or an exclusive court venue.

19. General terms

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted by law. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, together with incorporated policies and applicable feature terms, form the agreement governing use of the Services.

20. Contact

For support, use the in-app Support system or the official Spaces support channel. For security issues, use the security contact published by Spaces. For legal notices, use the legal contact published on the Spaces Legal Center.
